well, hello there!

let's get introductions out of the way...

this is me
and this is my husband, andy
he's a professional volleyball player, currently on contract in toulouse, france.
(that's me, under his arm in the white sweater, obviously paying very close attention to the match)

we're newly married and have been on this whirlwind of an adventure in southwestern france for the past few months.

prior to marrying the mister, i lived in san francisco and worked at a consumer pr agency in the financial district. young and trying to prove myself in the industry, compounded by long hours in the cubicle and daily commutes to and fro the office, often meant dinner was one of three things:
1. a head of steamed broccoli, occasionally sprinkled with a bit of parm if i was feeling fancy
2. scrambled egg whites
3. a heaping bowl of peanut butter puffins

soon into our union, we realized just how different our eating habits were. i'm a vegetarian (okay, i dabble in fish but rarely) - he's a carnivore. i'm a grazer - he's a big meal kind of guy. i'm not exactly an athlete anymore - he is, and a professional one at that. i'm 5'6" - he's nearly 7 feet tall.

after months of growing pains and food-related debates (full-disclosure here: arguments), with a few tears sprinkled in along the way, i decided i was going to do it - i was going to learn to cook!

and so, with a moderate kitchen consisting of two burners and a toaster oven, a full heart, and hungry husband, here is my story. i present to you...

kate vs. kitchen

it's my sincere hope to share deliciously healthy, filling, and veggie-packed recipes that are sure to satisfy even the most picky of palettes.
